12 - We should live soberly Soberly is from nephalios which we see from 1pe0113 as abstinence from alcoholic wine. The importance of good health is more than happy living 1co1031. It is preparation for the return of Christ as we see here. 13 - Blessed Here means "happy." 13 - Blessed hope The word "hope" is more an expectation or anticipation than a wish. This text doesn't seem to fit into the rapture idea which teaches anticipation for the rapture more than for the "glorious appearing." Why would the raptured ones mt2437ff be looking for Christ's appearance in glory? According to the theory, they will already have been with Him in heaven when He comes in glory? We would expect that they would be waiting to be whisked away quietly to heaven.
