Psalm 130

I wait for the Lord as those who watch for the morning.
.
Text
Explanation
This psalm seems to follow naturally from the previous one.
The Lord reveals Himself as one who pardons.
1 ¶ <<A Song of degrees.>> Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD.
2  Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
  Out of the depths  ps13001, ps04002, ps06903.
3  If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
4  But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
Mark iniquities Of course the Lord knows but He forgives those who are sorry and seek Him and He removes the record of sin re0305. Also jb1416, jb1014.
Who shall stand? See mal0302, re0617.
Forgiveness ... feared It seems that we would fear Him if He didn't forgive. That would develop a fear as of one who desired to hurt his children. Being forgiven, however, inspires love and awesome respect. je3309, ez1662, 1pe0216.
5 ¶ I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
6  My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.
  Wait Patient expectation. ps02714.
7  Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.
8  And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
Let Israel hope A beautiful invitation for the community of the faithful or in corporate worship.
Redeem Israel Here is God's promise to redeem all the faithful. It applies to spiritual Israel today – to those of every ethnic background who call up on Him. See on ro1126.
