9:11  And, behold, the man clothed with linen, which had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, I have done as thou hast commanded me.
.1 ¶ Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.
.2  And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight.
.3  Now the cherubims stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court.
1 - Cherubims The living ones who witness the four phases of the preadvent judgment. (The word in Hebrew is plural without the "s." "Cherub" is singular.) re06.
1 - Above the ... cherubims ... throne So the wheels facilitate the movement of the throne out of the place of judgment just as the cherubim, as the living ones, had brought the one on the throne into that place of judgment in the same orderly manner. See on ez0115.
2 - Man in linen The glorified Christ as we see elsewhere and by comparison with Rev. 1.
2 - Coals ... scatter them This judgment on Jerusalem is a symbol of the end of the preadvent judgment – the close of probation re0805, re2211. The fire is seen as part of the throne scene and may represent the preparation for this fearful time ez0104.
.4  Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD'S glory.
5  And the sound of the cherubims' wings was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaketh.
4 - Glory See on 1ki0810. Going up and standing over the threshold apparently indicates preparation of the holy presence to leave.
5 - Wings ... heard The voice of God is heard in ps02903.
5 - Almighty God From El-Shaddai. "El" is a term for God. We do not know the meaning of "Shaddai."
.6  And it came to pass, that when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubims; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels.
7  And one cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubims unto the fire that was between the cherubims, and took thereof, and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen: who took it, and went out.
.8 ¶ And there appeared in the cherubims the form of a man's hand under their wings.
6 - Fire from between A close relationship between man and the Almighty God. He stands at the heart of the moving system as He must be the center of our lives and of the people who have chosen to follow Him through Christ jn1011, jn1409.
7 - Put fire in hands of man in linen Authorized to judge and execute judgment jn0522.
8 - Hand under The all-powerful One controls the affairs of nations with the assistance of angelic beings, ez0108.
.9  And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was as the colour of a beryl stone.
10  And as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel.
11  When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went.
12  And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had.
13  As for the wheels, it was cried unto them in my hearing, O wheel.
9 - Four wheels ... This scene is similar to the one in chapter 1. We see perfect order. The number generally represents universality. Four angels held back four winds in re0701-3. See je4936, ez3709. Daniel saw four winds that introduced four beasts da1104. We see a sense of scattering in zc0206 and of gathering the elect in mt2431. Finally the four angels bound over the Euphrates are to be released apparently in allowing chaos in the world re0914.
13 - O wheel "rather, 'they were called, whirling,' that is, they were most rapid in their revolutions ... or, better, 'It was cried unto them, The whirling' ... Galgal here used for 'wheel,' is different from ophan, the simple word for 'wheel.' Galgal is the whole wheelwork machinery with its whirlwind-like rotation. Their being so addressed is in order to call them immediately to put themselves in rapid motion. (JFB Commentary).
14 - Every one had four faces We may see the creatures as the same as in chapter 1 (emphasized by verse 15 below). Yet they were different. Perhaps they were observed differently.
14  And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.   14 - Four faces There were four cherubim and four wheels.
.15  And the cherubims were lifted up. This is the living creature that I saw by the river of Chebar.
.16  And when the cherubims went, the wheels went by them: and when the cherubims lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also turned not from beside them.
17  When they stood, these stood; and when they were lifted up, these lifted up themselves also: for the spirit of the living creature was in them.
15 - Creature The cherubim were the "creature." Perhaps an observer could see individual angel members as well as a complex array of angels as described in verse 13.
17 - Spirit Apparently the Holy Spirit working with Christ as the one in Linen.
.18  Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims.
19  And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD'S house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
19 - At the east gate Ready for the coming of the man in linen – Christ – in glory mt2427. (subject to further study). Compare ez4301.
.20  This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they were the cherubims.
21  Every one had four faces apiece, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.
22  And the likeness of their faces was the same faces which I saw by the river of Chebar, their appearances and themselves: they went every one straight forward.
20 - Living creature as they were earlier called ez0105. These would be the four angels who hold the four winds in re07. The KJV uses the word "cherubims." The word is plural without the "s." Singular is "cherub."
21 - Hands of a man Guidance of Omnipotence, perhaps as the preincarnate Christ (Christ before taking human flesh in Bethlehem.) Compare verse 2.
