| 1 ¶ Rejoice in the LORD,
O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
.2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. 3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise. |

Comely Means "fitting" or "deserved." Harp Should read "lyre" a hand held stringed instrument here and elsewhere where the KJV uses "harp." The harp was a larger instrument more like our harps today. Blessed is the nation The spiritual leaders in the time of Jesus would have seen this promise. Their problem was in trying to legislate how individuals lived by making laws that regulated the religious life. mt2304, mt1509. This is not to say we should ignore the increasing evil and corruption in the world governments but trying to force religion is predicted for the end times. Indeed, we see it already. re1315. |
| 15 He fashioneth their hearts
alike; he considereth all their works.
16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. 17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. |
15 - Alike From yachad. The whole number. This means that God fashions the hearts of all men, not that the hearts are fashioned in the same manner. The word for "fashon," yasar. is used to describe the creation of man and beast ge0207,8, ge0219. It is used also of the prenatal development of man ge0105, is4402. So the psalmist may refer to the creation of the human mind. Or he may have meant the subsequent influencing, and moulding of human thought. (From SDA BC p.710) |
